Aloha…from Lil’ House

Lil’ House is on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Lil’ House has fourteen sides and is perched on a coffee farm in what some folks would call paradise, which it sometimes is, especially if you don’t live here.

Otherwise, there’s the feuding, land battles, drought, vog, and graffiti mixed in with bills, chores, work, and taxes; the good, the bad, and the ugly all lumped together on the western side of the biggest active volcano in the world.

Which is where I am, looking down from to the ocean, at about 2000 feet elevation, four miles from the beach, 35 miles below the summit.

Besides this island, there’s lots of other things that can be really big here, too.  Especially the volcano where Lil’ House is. And folks’ tempers. The more rural, the more interesting and flavorful.  Lil’ House does the best it can to be positive.  Yours truly is an optimist.  Just sometimes, you get a surprise.

Like screamers and dog gunners, as in, “Is that your dog?  ‘Cause it better not come on my property and knock up my bitch or I’ll put a bullet in it’s head.”  Or on the otherhand, the fellow who goes bride shopping in Thailand, but also buys y’all a hand-crafted wooden heart with two ever-lovin’ big old Hawaiian turtles etched in perpetuity as a belated welcome to your new home wedding gift.
